Locus Lock Joins the Xona PULSAR Ecosystem
Locus Lock’s software-defined GNSS receiver with Xona PULSAR functionality.
Burlingame, CA - August 28, 2024 -- Locus Lock, a leader in cutting-edge agile and resilient Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS) receiver technology, has partnered with Xona Space Systems to develop an advanced receiver that optimizes the performance of Xona's high-powered, multi-frequency PULSAR service. In a market increasingly demanding cost-effective, precise, and trustworthy positioning, navigation, and timing (PNT), Locus Lock provides a robust software-defined GNSS receiver suited for both commercial and military applications.

Xona is pioneering the next generation of space-based PNT to answer the need for more security, accuracy, and robustness in industries such as agriculture & construction, autonomy, precision time transfer, and defense. Xona’s PULSAR™ service will be delivered from a constellation of LEO satellites orbiting the Earth 20 times closer than GNSS satellites. PULSAR’s substantially higher signal power and modernized signal design enable user equipment to provide significantly improved multipath mitigation and higher accuracy, as well as increased protection against radio frequency interference and spoofing compared to current GNSS.
Robust, augmented, and assured PNT requires blended solutions from different sources and frequencies to overcome today’s threat environment. As the paradigm shifts from a single, trusted source in GNSS to the inclusion of signals of opportunity and commercial space-based PNT providers, modernized user equipment is needed to realize the benefits. “We’re excited to collaborate with Locus Lock to create end-to-end, user-driven solutions that combine the power and security of Xona PULSAR with their innovative software-based receiver technology,” said Jessica Hulsey, VP of Business Development.

Locus Lock’s software-defined GNSS receiver is a flexible platform that can quickly integrate and deploy innovative PNT signals for customer use. This software-based receiver technology provides the adaptability needed to address the challenges of a rapidly evolving ecosystem and increasingly complex threat landscape. Locus Lock’s technology is designed for a wide range of applications, including vehicles navigating dense urban areas, agriculture & construction, UAVs, high-speed aircraft, and defense applications. “Locus Lock is thrilled to partner with Xona to integrate their PULSAR service into our receiver technology, providing enhanced resilience and security crucial for our customers,” said Hailey Nichols, CEO of Locus Lock.
